<strong>Solid</strong> <strong>Waste</strong> <strong>Management</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>draft for discussion7.6 Construction and Demolition (C&D) <strong>Waste</strong>The ACRD will work with municipalities to identify acceptable methods to encouragedeconstruction, C&D waste recycling and LEED-oriented construction projects using tools such as:• variable permit fees (deconstruction vs. demolition permits);• reduced fees for LEED-certified 16 or other design-for-environment construction projects;• mandatory solid waste management plans for new construction of a minimum size; and• set tipping fees to encourage source separation of recyclable materials.A recycling system for clean wood waste that involves chipping wood waste for use a chip base orhog (boiler) fuel will be developed at both landfills. Source-separation of wood waste will beencouraged through variable tipping fees, and eventually through a disposal ban.Implementation by:ACRD and MunicipalitiesNew Diversion Potential: 7% (based on 50% diversion of C&D waste).
