communication failure.7.9.2. The detailed breakdown of ground training shall be approvedby the CAA.7.10. AERONAUTICAL EXPERIENCE (HELICOPTER)7.10.1. An applicant must satisfactorily complete a course ofbasic flight training in accordance with the approvedsyllabus with approved aviation training centre.7.10.2. Aeronautical experience of at least 40 hours of flight time,including skill test as a pilot of a Helicopter whichincludes:7.10.2.1. Not less than 10 hours of solo flight time underthe supervision of an Authorized FlightInstructor, including 5 hours of solo crosscountrywith at least one cross-country flighttotaling not less than 100 NM in the course ofwhich full-stop landings at two points shall bemade. The 100 NM cross-country shall be thelast exercise of PPL course.7.10.2.2. When the applicant has flight time as a pilot ofaircraft in other categories, the Licensing<strong>Authority</strong> shall determine whether suchexperience is acceptable and, if so, the extent towhich the flight requirements can be reducedaccordingly.7.10.2.3. Subject to approval by the Licensing <strong>Authority</strong>,the 40 hours flight time set out in aboveparagraphs may include up to 5 hours in anapproved Synthetic Flight Trainer.7.10.2.4. The detailed breakdown of flying training shallbe approved by the CAA.7.11. FLIGHT INSTRUCTION (HELICOPTER)7.11.1. An applicant shall have received not less than 20 hours ofdual instruction time in Helicopters from an authorizedInstructor in the under mentioned areas:7.11.1.1. Pre-flight operations, including mass andbalance determination, Helicopter inspection andservicing;7.11.1.2. Aerodrome and traffic pattern operations,collision avoidance precautions and procedures;7.11.1.3. Control of the helicopter by external visualreference;7.11.1.4. Recovery at the incipient stage from settling withpower; recovery techniques from low-rotor RPMwithin the normal range of engine RPM;Page 15 of 15
