government showcased their innovative solutions for urban sustainable
development. Former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder
had come to open the Esplanade. A pop festival including Sino-
German hip hoppers rounded off the action-packed programme
and entertained the citizens of Hubei‘s capital.

Industry & Commerce opened at Shanghai Times
Square. One part of the Shanghai Tourism Festival, this
German Week put on display the best of German design,
industry and contemporary art, as well as food,
beer and wine, song and dance.
