If you’re like most educators, your busy schedule makes it challenging to find time to connectwith your colleagues. Facebook can make the challenge easier. In this section we highlightsome ways you can use Facebook as a resource for professional development.First and foremost, you can use the Facebook in Education Page (facebook.com/education) asa place to learn about and share best practices, teaching strategies, or tips on how to useFacebook and other social technologies in the classroom. This Page has become a professionaldevelopment hub where thousands of educators share ideas, inspiration, and solutions.“With the web influencing all facets of contemporary life, the line between the virtual and real isdisappearing, leaving new opportunities for today’s students to acquire knowledge and sharevaluable information.There is a need for guiding best practices that enable a much-needed common senseapproach about the right strategy. The help for teachers is timely and important as engagedparticipants. This includes your professional association and conferences youattend. When you “like” Facebook Pages that are relevant to you, it will save you time bydelivering resources of interest to you directly to your Facebook News Feed.You can also create a Group on Facebook for the teachers in your school, district or subjectmatter association. Doing so provides on-demand opportunities for professional development,knowledge exchange and the ability to easily share content or even your Microsoft Office fileswith the Docs.com Facebook App.Share Your Story: Facebook in EducationEach week educators are creating new ways to use Facebook to enhance teaching andlearning. You’ll find a collection of examples from around the world at the Facebook StoriesPage (stories.facebook.com/).You can add your own experience to that collection.
