Internati<strong>on</strong>al Food Standard (IFS) certificati<strong>on</strong>In 2002 German retailers developed a comm<strong>on</strong> standard called Internati<strong>on</strong>al FoodStandard (IFS) for food safety management systems. In 2003 French food retailers(and wholesalers) joined the IFS Working Group and c<strong>on</strong>tributed to the developmentof the current versi<strong>on</strong> of the normative document. The IFS standard has beendesigned as a uniform tool to ensure food safety and to m<strong>on</strong>itor the quality level ofproducers of retailer-branded food products.
