This is called being on supervision. Someone from the probation service, probablyyour offender manager, will work with you to see how you are getting on after youleave the YOI.• You will be on supervision unless° you were sentenced for not paying a fine or not doing what the court told you todo (this is called contempt of court)° you are 22 years old when you leave the YOI.• Someone from the probation service will check on you for at least 3 months afteryou leave the YOI.• You will be given a document called a licence when you leave the YOI. Thelicence will tell you the rules you need to follow after you leave.• The law says you must do the things that the licence says. You must say if you donot underst<strong>and</strong> what the licence says.• If you break the rules of the licence you may have to pay a fine or you may haveto go back to the YOI.• If you are released on parole, you will have to follow the rules of the licence untilthe date that you would have been released anyway. This is called your NonParole Date.159
