You can catch themfrom someone’s blood <strong>and</strong> through having sex with them.• There is a vaccine you can take for Hepatitis B but not for Hepatitis C. A vaccineis something you can take to help stop you getting the virus in the first place.• Speak to someone in the healthcare team if you are worried about Hepatitis B orC or if you want more information.Sexually Transmitted Diseases <strong>and</strong> Infections - illnesses youcan get through having sex with someone. Also called STDs• There are quite a few different sexually transmitted diseases <strong>and</strong> infections. Someexamples are chlamydia <strong>and</strong> genital herpes.• Most of these can be treated <strong>and</strong> cured if you see healthcare staff straight away.• Most prisons will have special healthcare staff you can go to with any healthproblems to do with sex. But many doctors <strong>and</strong> other healthcare staff can alsotreat sexually transmitted diseases <strong>and</strong> infections.• Speak to the healthcare team if you are worried you may have caught an illnessthrough having sex.
