Forbs<br />

Below is a list <strong>of</strong> the forbs most commonly used<br />

by sage-<strong>grouse</strong>, which is used by the Bureau <strong>of</strong> Land<br />

Management for habitat assessments. Forb variety<br />

is important dur<strong>in</strong>g the early and late brood-rear<strong>in</strong>g<br />

periods. Not only do hens and chicks eat green, succulent<br />

forbs, but chicks especially feed on the <strong>in</strong>sects associated<br />

with a healthy understory.<br />
