K I N G S P O R T C I T Y S C H O O : S T U D E N T H A N D B O O KCommunication that promotes the destruction of property, including the acquisition orcreation of weapons or other destructive devices;Any communications deemed inappropriate by KCS personnel in any publicmessages, private messages, and material posted online;Recording audio or video media or taking pictures of any student or staff memberwithout their permission;Distribution of any unauthorized media may result in disciplinary actions including butnot limited to suspension, criminal charges, and expulsion.Attempts to circumvent the school’s network security and/or filtering policies. Thisincludes setting up proxies and downloading programs to bypass security.<strong>Student</strong>s bear the burden of responsibility to inquire with school administrators and/or teachersregarding the appropriate use of technology prior to engaging in questionable activities.UNACCEPTABLE DEVICESUnacceptable devices include but are not limited to:Portable gaming devices or consoles unless Wifi enabled and a web browser isinstalled;Laser pointers;Modems or routers;TelevisionsDISCIPLINARY ACTIONS (MAY CHANGE BASED ON SCHOOL POLICY)FIRST INFRACTION: Administrator, teacher, or staff person will confiscate the deviceand turn it into the school office. The school office will inform the parent or guardian ofthe infraction. The parent and student will review the guidelines and complete a newpermission form. The student may be subject to additional disciplinary actions basedon the circumstances of the infraction.SECOND INFRACTION: The student will lose BYOD privileges without the expresspermission of the principal or site administrator. The student may be subject to otherdisciplinary actions based on the circumstances of the infraction.*If any infraction is a violation of law, school authorities will notify the appropriate lawenforcement agency.<strong>Student</strong>s and parents must read and sign the BYOD Permission Form/Agreement that will beprovided by each school. Please return the form to your homeroom teacher prior to bringingyour device to school.PERSONAL SAFETYUsers will not post personal contact information about themselves or other people,including such information as address, telephone, work address, etc. This includes butis not limited to online services such as social media sites, chat rooms, websites,blogs, etc.Users will not agree to meet with someone they have met online without their parent'sapproval and participation.45
