<strong>La</strong> <strong>Mesita</strong> Family Homeless Shelter <strong>Fact</strong> <strong>Sheet</strong>WHAT:<strong>La</strong> <strong>Mesita</strong> is a 16-unit family shelter that provides services to help homeless families with minor agedchildren become self-reliant. Services include:• Temporary Emergency Housing – housing needs are assessed on a month to month basis for 120 days.• Case Management – each family develops a plan to become self-sustaining and works toward goals.• Access point for Maricopa County Workforce Connections – provide help to find a job.• Provision of basic living needs – food, clothing, hygiene and household items.<strong>La</strong> <strong>Mesita</strong> is the only emergency shelter in the East Valley providing a broad array of services tohomeless families.WHO:Homeless families are referred by city CAP (Community Action Programs) and complete a screeningprocess before placement. Residents agree to seek employment and work toward self-sufficiency duringtheir stay for up to 120 days.WHERE: 651 E.
