SHEET METAL WORKPAN ADAPTORS, SIDEENTRY PLENUM BOXESAND HEADER BOXESThe range of sheet metal boxes that we manufacture isdesigned to match the performance of our products andprovide a satisfactory fit. A comprehensive range ofnon-fibrous materials are available for thermal and/oracoustic insulation on the inside of the boxes, if required.The standard models will cover most applications but wecan design boxes with non-standard heights where thereis limited space in the cavity or with different spigotarrangements, if the standard arrangement is not suitable.The standard range with relevant codes are shown on thefollowing pages, grouped by product type.DESCRIPTIONS •Pan adaptors. A pan adaptor is a shallow, top entry boxthat is usually used on extract systems. They can be usedon supply grilles and diffusers but care must be taken tomake sure that the lead in to the pan is straight and thatthe spigot size is not less than 50mm smaller than thenominal size of the pan. The only exception to this can bewhere the reduced spigot size is specifically being used toblank an oversized grille or diffuser, such as a tile replacer,in order to stop it dumping cold air. However, we wouldrecommend the use of blanking plates in this situationrather than a shallow pan.Plenum boxes. The standard has a side entry spigot.The side entry box needs to have sufficient height to turnthe air flow through 90° and enable the air to expand tothe neck dimension as evenly as possible in order tominimise uneven air distribution over the face of thegrille or diffuser.Header box. Header boxes are usually side entryalthough we do make them top entry, if required.By definition, header boxes are usually used on a linearrun of diffuser where more than one box supplies orextracts from the run. Consequently, the box has to bemanufactured with apertures in the end plates so that theupper part of the diffuser can run through the box. Therelationship between the length, width and height of thebox is critical as is the number and size of spigots.STANDARD SPECIFICATIONSIZESThe nominal size is generally the same as the nominalsize of the grille or diffuser to which it is to be fitted.We manufacture the item with a suitable clearance.CONSTRUCTIONManufactured from 0.75mm Zintec coated sheet steelwith either spot welded or stitched joints. Insulation,when ordered, is applied to the inside of the box.Thermal insulation is 17mm thick with a vapour sealand the acoustic/thermal insulation is either 10mm or25mm thick and made from closed cell material thatdoes not require a vapour seal.STANDARD SPECIFICATIONFIXINGSGenerally, pan adaptors can be fitted to the productwithout the need for independent support unless thereis heavy ducting attached to it. However, if they are tobe independently supported, it may be advisable toinclude suspension brackets (Code 0361). Plenum andheader boxes should be independently supported i.e.from the slab above. They have a 20mm lip around thetop which can be drilled to take suspension rods orwires. If there is insufficient space above the box toenable this, it may be advisable to include suspensionbrackets (Code 0361).PACKAGINGEach box is fitted with corner protectors and enclosedin a polythene bag.OPTIONAL ALTERNATIVES/ADDITIONSNON STANDARD SIZESWe can design boxes with non standard heights oralternative configurations. Please contact our technicaldepartment for details.ADDITIONAL OR TOP ENTRY SPIGOTSPlease contact head Office if additional or top entryspigots are required on plenum/header boxes, or therecommended configuration of spigots on a headerbox requires changing.SUSPENSION BRACKETSCode 0361.
