Note3 Current Issuesa) Hanwell Town Centre Regeneration (£1million)Action Point/InformationRefurbishment of the Hanwell Clock Tower and setting up of Traders associations.Light columns for Church Road to Hanwell Bridge are to be mock-heritage style lights.Discussions held with St Mellitus church regarding finishing their works and St Joseph’s church is also looking to make visualimprovements to the outside of the church.There will be shop front improvement schemes to encourage traders and visual merchandising training to help traders learn topresent goods and improve.There is a programme of street improvements and improvements to signage.b) Hanwell Community CentreThis has £2 million upgrade to its structure and to make it watertight. In the process of appointing professional designconsultants, getting quotes and timescales together, for 2 options:Minimal time that the centre is totally closedPhased works over timeConsultation has gone out to 11,700 homes and 1,083 responses were received, users of the centre were also consulted viafocus groupsc) Brent Park Action PlanReplace the litter bins (12 identified £8,400) and new metal benches (8 identified £8,800). Metal benches are better at resistingvandals and fire. Refurbishment of the shrub beds (£25 per square metre) near the Brent Lodge animal Centre.The millennium maze-interpretation sign needs replacement (£3, 000).Refurbishment of the kissing gates (costing £4,000).Nicola Masters will match fund any benches or bins ‘supplied’ by the ward and has confirmed that the timber benches will bekept until they are not serviceable-then they have to be replaced with metal ones.2
