CYMOPHANE. 55When analysed, it yields, according to Barbot,Silex 43Alumina .. .. .. ..55*50Iron 00-50And besides, it presents traces of potassium.The cyanite is found in granite, and in the micaceousschist of primitive mountains, either in masses ordisseminated. The primitive form seems to be aquadrangular oblique prism, having watered, brilliantiridized facets. Easily broken,it has a double cleavage,and is translucent and sometimes transparent.It is found in Asia, Europe, and America, and is alsoprocured from St. Gothard and England.It is easily distinguished from the blue corundum orOriental sapphire, although in India it is cut so as toimitate the latter gem, with the view of selling itdeceptively at a high price.XXII.CYMOPHANE.THE name of this gem came from the Greek wordsKv/jia
