The festivalwill take place on August 12 at 5 p.m.-PREVIEW OF EVENTS GUIDELINESmidnight, August 13 at noon-midnightand August 14 at noon-10:30 p.m. Thisthree-day event will feature amusementrides, traditional Ukrainian food, ethnicdancing in traditional costumes, plusexhibitions and demonstrations ofUkrainian folk crafts, especially embroideryand ceramics. Festival entertainmentincludes performances by the Ukraina,Echoes of Ukraine and Barvinok danceensembles, and music by bands includingDunai, Ephyra Band and Foghat, anAmerican band. The parishes of twoDetroit area Ukrainian Catholic churches,Immaculate Conception Church inHamtramck, and St. Josaphat Parish inWarren, began the festival during the1980s to bring Ukrainian communitiestogether, and to share the beauty andimportance of the Ukrainian heritage, cultureand traditions with other Americans.The Ukrainian Sunflower Festival raisesfunds in support of ImmaculateConception Ukrainian Catholic Schoolslocated in Warren.
