Hair Loss Beaten!
may be experiencing. If you are, it’s very frustrating because people affected by alternating
patterns of slow and rapid hair loss, always hope that their loss is a temporary ‘hitch’ that will
right itself in time.
There are many factors at work and each individual’s experience will be unique, but there are
a few things you can count on, that do follow in some sort of pattern, especially where age is
concerned. With age, the total number of hairs on a man’s head will decrease, that’s
perfectly normal and happens to everyone. Typical male pattern baldness will cause the hair
follicles to spend less time in the growth phase and more time in the dormant phase of their
growth cycle. This results in more hair than usual going into the dormant phase causing
greater hair fall than would normally happen.
Eventually, when hair re-enters the growth phase, the hair that grows back will be
miniaturized. And what that means is the hair is thinner, shorter, and not as dense as a
normal hair. So, as a man gets older this cycle of fall and growth becomes out of balance,
with the hair becoming smaller and smaller as the follicle’s growth cycle becomes shorter and
shorter.
Following this pattern of growth and loss, and with the cycle becoming increasingly
unbalanced, the follicle will eventually cease hair production altogether. Like slipping into a
coma, the follicle will enter the dormant phase and never re-enter the growth phase again.
Male pattern baldness, or androgenetic alopecia, affects up to 40% of all men under the age
of 40, and up to 80% of all men over the age of 55. When questioned in a survey, up to 75%
of men admitted that if they started to lose hair after the age of 55, then they would not be too
concerned. On the other hand, if hair loss were to occur during their teens and 20’s they
would be devastated.
With those figures in mind, that almost half the male population is troubled with hair loss and
suffers from subsequent embarrassment and anxiety, then something has to be done. Statistics
show that 75% of all men who tried to do something about their problem instead of just
sitting back and ‘getting on with it’ admitted to success. Great news! Let’s make sure that
you are one of those who experience success!
As a footnote to this chapter, if you ever saw the book I wrote for women with hair loss I
have titled it “How to Beat Hair Loss in Women in 6 Weeks”; this book, the male version, is
titled “How to Beat Hair Loss in Men in 9 Weeks”... Why?
Well, experience shows me that women suffering with hair loss are more driven than men to
take positive action and to stick to rigorous programs to help solve the problem as quickly as
possible; maybe the conception of hair loss is more frightening to them that it is to men, who
knows?
If women are driven, it seems that men are more relaxed and tend to slip in and out of a
rejuvenation program as the mood or time or work schedules permit. Hair loss in men and
women requires the same treatment and therefore the time schedule should be exactly the
same for both sexes but for this reason it never seems to work out that way; guys seem to take
longer – Be totally committed and prove me wrong!
