Headded that the target total trade volumefor this year is pegged at $12 million.Kyong-Ho said South Korea’s totalinvestment in the Philippines is around$3.8 billion, which includes HanjinHeavy Ind<strong>us</strong>tries and Construction Co.based at the Subic Bay Freeport and athermal power plant based in Batangas.The Korean envoy noted that theincrease in trade volume between thePhilippines and South Korea is proof ofthe “very close and comprehensive relationship”of the two countries.According to Kyong-Ho, the Philippineshas become an attractive investmentdestination to Korean b<strong>us</strong>inessesdue to the country’s investor-friendlyenvironment placing South Korea onthe fifth spot in the Philippines’ list oftop foreign investors and number onein the list of top b<strong>us</strong>inesses inside theClark Freeport.In Clark, Kyong-Ho said, “A lot ofKorean b<strong>us</strong>inessmen have signified theirintentions to invest in Clark, especiallynow that investors like to deal with theClark Development Corporation” led byits president, Arthur P. Tugade.Kyong-Ho said among the investmentsthat Korean firms would bebringing to Clark are from the manufacturing,real estate, and tourism ind<strong>us</strong>try.Earlier, the CDC reported that in thefirst six months of 2013, Korean firmPhoenix Semiconductor Phils. Corp.(PSPC) topped the list of best exportingcountries with $196 million or 58percent of Clark’s total export volume.PSPC’s feat was followed by NanoxPhils, Inc., with $59 million or 18 percent;Yokohama Tire Philippines, Inc.with $18 million or 5 percent; and HLDClark Steel Pipe Co, Inc., with $11 millionor 3 percent in the CDC’s September2013 report.He also noted that the Philippines isone of the favorite vacation destinationsof Koreans, most especially during theirwinter season. He added that it is nowwinter in Korea hence the Philippinesshould expect more Korean tourists toarrive in the country.“I would like to thank the Filipinopeople for welcoming and <strong>help</strong>ing Koreancommunities here.
