Activate Faith (25 minutes)Survivor CanaanSet Up:• Hang the bedsheet backdrop to designate the stage area. Place the chairtoward the center back of the stage. Drape a piece of fabric over the chair.• Set the props and costume pieces where kids can choose among them.• Set the fabric strips and craft supplies where kids can use them.• Make several copies of the Survivor Canaan Skit Script.• Prepare to play the recording during the workshop (optional).Activity InstructionsBefore the skit:We are creating a skit based on a reality game show. The show is called SurvivorCanaan. The show will feature Team Jacob and Team Esau competing for avaluable prize!1. Ask a few kids to create the following props for the set.• Targets and arrows: Stuff two grocery bags with newspaper and tape themshut. Paint a red and white target on the front and back of each bag. Tapefeathers to one end of each dowel. Poke one dowel into the middle of the targeton one side of one bag. Poke the other dowel into one side of the other grocerybag, missing the center of the target by a lot.• Birthright: Write the word birthright on the parchment paper. Make the paperlook like an official document.• Sign: Use the posterboard to create a decorative sign that reads SurvivorCanaan. Hang the sign on or near the backdrop onstage.2. Invite some kids to set up the props onstage. Provide scripts for them. Readthe script. Decide where it would make sense to place the props on thestage.3.4.Ask a volunteer to be in charge of the music. Give the volunteer a script.Provide an opportunity for him or her to practice fading the music in and outduring the skit (optional).Invite volunteers to play the parts of Dan, Isaac, Team Esau, and TeamJacob, then hand out scripts to them. Read through the script so you havean idea how the skit goes. Use the costume items for your character. Danneeds sunglasses, and Isaac needs the beard and cane. Team Esau, usethe fabric strips to create and wear red Team Esau armbands. Make a fewextra armbands for props.
