Binlerce ünlü tablo buradaVenedik sanatının en güzel koleksiyonuna sahip olan Galleriadell’Accademia, Venedik’te en çok ziyaret edilen yerlerarasında. Buradaki koleksiyon 14. ve 18. yüzyıllar arasındayapılmış resimleri kapsıyor. Eserler 24 salonda kronolojikbir sırayla sergileniyor. On theterrace at the top of the tower are two greatMoorish looking bronze figures which strikethe hours on a bell. Venedik yüzyıllar boyunca sel baskınlarıyla mücadele etmiş birkent. Günümüzde de zaman zaman bu tip tehlikeler yaşıyor. UNESCOtarafından koruma altına alınan kentin ve görkemli yapıların zarar görmemesiiçin çabalar halen sürüyor.Venice a pedestrian urban centreTrademark of Venice is to be a city established on the water. The buildings ofVenice are constructed on closely spaced wooden piles protecting them fromthe potential decay of salty sea water. The foundations rest on the piles, andbuildings of brick or stone sit above these footings. The piles penetrate a softerlayer of sand and mud before reaching the bottom of the lagoon consisting ofa much harder layer of compressed clay ensuring stability. The lack of vehicletraffic allows visitors to tour the city easily. The canals and lagoons providefor the city’s romantic atmosphere which makes out its magnetism for tourists.Unfortunately, this unique city has had to fight throughout the centuries andstill has to deal with acqua alta or ‘high water’, the lagoon flooding San MarcoSquare. Efforts to preserve this jewel of the world are currently supported bythe international community. The city in its entirety is declared aWorld HeritageSite by UNESCO.36
