The Requirement
Teva UK, a division of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries,
decided to move its head office and logistics centre to a new
flagship building in West Yorkshire.
The company, which is one of the largest generic
pharmaceutical companies in the world, needed more space
to accommodate its expanding UK business and high quality
facilities to provide the best possible customer service.
The Solution
Prologis acquired a site at Glasshoughton on the junction of
the M62 and the A1 trunk road and designed a 262,000 sq ft
facility to meet Teva’s precise brief.
The building, which includes 60,000 sq ft of offices, was
designed to reflect its UK head office function, while the
warehouse was specifically designed for pharmaceutical
storage and distribution.
The project included a £6 million generic and specialist fitout,
including dual systems for all environmental controls to
provide back-up should any of the equipment fail.
The offices were fully fitted, leaving only the furniture to
be provided by Teva. In the warehouse, only the specialist
material handling equipment (MHE) was installed by
Teva and Prologis ensured that all systems had a high
degree of tolerance to ensure a smooth integration with the
MHE installation.
The Result
The project was completed within a tight timescale to
allow Teva to test run the facility, ensuring 100% accuracy
in product delivery.
“
The new site will bring big improvements for our
customers, as we finally have the space and facilities
to provide the best possible service.
”
