Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young PeopleEvaluation of a RIGHT blether3 OUTCOMES AND IMPACT3.1 This section discusses the outcomes and impacts arising from a RIGHTblether under the following headings:understanding and awareness of the role of the Commissioner,children’s rights and UNCRC;wider outcomes and impacts on children and young people;wider outcomes and impacts on adult deliverers and participatingorganisations.3.2 Overwhelmingly the two biggest outcomes for those participating in a RIGHTblether have been on improving understanding and awareness of the workof the Commissioner, Tam Baillie, and of children’s rights under UNCRC.This has been the case for both adults delivering a RIGHT blether and forchildren and young people participating in the consultation.3.3 However a number of qualitative comments from adult deliverers suggestthat this impact will diminish over time unless there are tangible outcomesarising from the consultation and visible influence of children and youngpeople’s views from the consultation on the work of the Commissioner overthe long-term.26
Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young PeopleEvaluation of a RIGHT bletherUnderstanding and Awareness of the Role of theCommissioner, Children’s Rights and UNCRC3.4 The vast majority of adult deliverers agreed that a RIGHT blether had helpedraise awareness of the Commissioner and raise awareness andunderstanding of children’s rights amongst both themselves and childrenand young people. Over 80% of adults agree that a RIGHT blether has helpedraise awareness of the work of Scotland’s Commissioner for Children andYoung People amongst both themselves and the children and young peoplethey work with. In addition, over 80% of adults agree that it helped raiseawareness and understanding of children’s rights under UNCRC amongstchildren and young people and 67% of adults agree that it helped raiseawareness and understanding of children’s rights under UNCRC amongstthemselves (Figure 8).27
