Students will begin bylearning to observe <strong>and</strong> create value relationships within thepicture plan in order to construct a balanced image. Next,through the use <strong>of</strong> basic color theory, students will practicetransparent <strong>and</strong> opaque layering techniques, developingbrilliant <strong>and</strong> unusual color palettes as well as compellingsurface textures. Attention will be paid to each student’sindividual style <strong>and</strong> expression. This course will focus on drawing from live models.Tackle complex figurative forms through careful observation<strong>and</strong> innovative drawing techniques. This in-depth exploration<strong>of</strong> the human form will stress anatomical structure,proportion, foreshortening, value <strong>and</strong> line quality. Developexpressive mark-making <strong>and</strong> strengthen compositional design.
