Dr David Bennett (BSc., PhD., FGS) is Director <strong>of</strong> TerraSalus(EarthSafety) Limited. He has over 17 years experience in providingstrategic and technical consultancy advice on radioactive wastemanagement and its regulation. He is a geologist and geochemist, and hascontributed to over 60 published papers and reports in the area <strong>of</strong>radioactive waste management.182. His specialities include disposal facility authorisation and licensing,regulatory review and interpretation, peer review, risk and safetyassessment, safety case development, engineered barrier systems,radioactive waste immobilization, and geochemical and radionuclidetransport modelling. He has also contributed to a range <strong>of</strong> consultativeBPEO studies and options appraisals on waste management and disposal.183. Dr Bennett has contributed to radiological assessments and nuclear wastemanagement programmes in Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Japan,Sweden, the UK and the US, and has also contributed to severalinternational programmes run by the European Commission, theInternational Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the OECD NuclearEnergy Agency (NEA).184. Dr Bennett currently chairs the independent peer review panel that isreviewing the development <strong>of</strong> new safety cases for the LLWR near Drigg.He is also secretary to the international BRITE group, which is reviewingnear-field aspects <strong>of</strong> the Swedish spent fuel disposal programme on behalf<strong>of</strong> the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. Dr Bennett is lead consultantto the NEA for its Engineered Barrier System (EBS) project, and hasrecently contributed to an international peer review <strong>of</strong> the Electric PowerResearch Institute (EPRI)’s assessment capability for radioactive wastedisposal at Yucca Mountain in the US. Dr Bennett has also been assistingthe IAEA to develop a new Safety Guide on safety cases and safetyassessments for radioactive waste disposal.Dr Adrian Bath185. Dr Adrian Bath (BSc., PhD., CGeol) is Director <strong>of</strong> Intellisci Limited. Hehas over 33 years experience as research scientist in groundwaterchemistry, hydrogeology, and environmental chemistry, and 24 yearsexperience in applying geochemistry in radioactive waste management,the environmental behaviour <strong>of</strong> radionuclides, and safety assessment <strong>of</strong>waste repository sites. He is also a member <strong>of</strong> the US GeochemicalSociety, <strong>of</strong> the International Association <strong>of</strong> Hydrogeologists, and <strong>of</strong> theInternational Association <strong>of</strong> Geochemistry.TerraSalus Limited A-1 2 September 2008
