The dies arealso compatible for use with Specac’s 15 and 25ton manual hydraulic presses.The dies are made of 440C stainless steel andoffered to prepare pellet discs of 32mm (P/NGS25410) or 40mm (P/N GS25411) diametersize.They are well suited for the preparation of solidpellets for study by X-Ray Fluorescencespectroscopy. When many samples are to beprepared for study, the physical effort required toload and remove an Atlas LightweightEvacuable Pellet Die into a press is greatlyreduced, as the dies themselves are physicallysmaller and lighter in weight by comparison toconventional 32mm and 40mm diameter pelletdies. The 32mm die P/N GS25410 isapproximately 1.8Kgs and the 40mm die P/NGS25411 is approximately 1.9kgs in weight. Bycomparison the 40mm pellet die P/N GS03290is close to 5.0kgs in weight.To aid in the weight reduction there are noindividual internal pressing pellets as withconventional dies and so a sample iscompressed between the plunger and the basepiece of the die assembly. For this reason theplunger itself has a highly polished surface thatmakes contact with the sample. The highlypolished face helps in producing an even surfaceto the sample pellet and in release of the samplefrom the die components.The Atlas Lightweight Evacuable Pellet Dieshave an evacuation port and can be operatedusing a partial vacuum for the compression ofsamples into pellets that may be moisturesensitive.VACUUMwww.specac.com85
