Technical InformationBulge Control blind <strong>rivet</strong> nutBulge Control stands for pre-defined deformation ofthe bulge without hole filling in the base material.To ensure this setting characteristic, we will designthe length and hole position of the ecosyn <strong>®</strong> -BCT<strong>rivet</strong> nut appropriate to the given base materialdimensions. Thereby, the bulge will be formed at thebackside of the application assuring the accurate fitof the blind <strong>rivet</strong> nut.Installation possibilitiesEstablish a resilient female thread inbrittle material (e.g. carbon and glassfiber boards, ceramics) and softmaterials (wood, unreinforced plastics,cardboard, rubber)Establish a resilient female thread incomposite panelsEstablish a resilient female thread in ablind hole with base material up tobrinell hardness 35 (e.g. oakwood,chipboard, medium density fiberboard)Optimal fitting in irregular, not perfectlyround or oversized holesRivet two or more components togetherDisadvantages of astandard blind <strong>rivet</strong> nutDuring the bulging process, the standard blind <strong>rivet</strong> nutneeds to be supported by the inner area of the hole. ecosyn-BCT <strong>®</strong>Technical InformationMicro blind <strong>rivet</strong> <strong>nuts</strong>Through its very short construction form, theecosyn <strong>®</strong> -BCT Micro blind <strong>rivet</strong> nut enables threadjoints also in applications with very limited space.The reduced shank length brings additional weightsavings. The ecosyn <strong>®</strong> -BCT Micro is suitable forgrade 8.8 screws in steel.Installation possibilitiesCreate fixation points with very low blindside protrusion for applications likesandwich panels (e.g. M6 in 10 mmaluminum sandwich panel) or round andsquare tubes with small diameters.Weight optimized jointDisadvantages of astandard blind <strong>rivet</strong> nut- When space is limited, e.g. at small diameter tubes orinterfering edges, standard blind <strong>rivet</strong> <strong>nuts</strong> cannot beused due to their blind side length. If the bulge of the<strong>rivet</strong> nut has no contact to the base material whilesetting, the setting will not be correct.- The flange of a standard blind <strong>rivet</strong> nut must rest on thebase material during the setting process. This requiresthat the blind side space matches the length of theunset blind <strong>rivet</strong> nut.A standard blind <strong>rivet</strong> nut is always longer and heavierthan the comparable ecosyn <strong>®</strong> -BCT Micro with the sameperformance.Features and benefitsof the ecosyn <strong>®</strong> -BCT- BC-Technology enables the use of higher grade materialsrequiring less threads and a shorter blind <strong>rivet</strong> nut.- Moreover, the flange (head) doesn‘t need to rest on thebase material for proper setting of the Micro blind <strong>rivet</strong>nut.
