Note: The Training & Development Committee would like to acknowledgethe invaluable support provided by Li Ka Shing <strong>Library</strong>, SMU in organizingT&D training courses by providing free training venues and someadministrative support.5.6 The T&D committee strongly feels that adequate administrative support isrequired for conducting training courses. Some <strong>of</strong> the training-relatedactivities needing admin support are: preparing course announcements,answering queries from interested individuals, participants’ registration,invoicing, payment collection, venue preparation, refreshments, gatheringand analyzing course feedback, and follow-up <strong>of</strong> overdue payments.Although during the year <strong>2008</strong> the Committee was able to engage a parttimesupport staff, the amount <strong>of</strong> work to be handled by the committeemembers was still quite substantial. It is recommended that the next LASCouncil should look into this matter and try to come up with an amicablesolution.6. Website Committee (WEB)6.1 The content <strong>of</strong> the website has been enhanced with several new sections.The Hot and Cool section incorporates the newly developed Photo Gallerywhich is hosted on Flickr and displayed using a Google Gadget, thebrochure Be a Librarian, Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Scheme, Slide/Papers <strong>of</strong>Conference/Talks and <strong>Singapore</strong> Libraries Bulletin weblog.6.2 Apart from the <strong>Annual</strong> General Meeting page, the Vendor section was totallyrevamped with directory information <strong>of</strong> 19 vendors which have supportedLAS's events. The Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Scheme is also included in themain menu.6.3 Over 35 events, 50 announcements and 40 job advertisements were postedon the website. Furthermore, a special section was developed for LASConference 08.6.4 A web counter Site Meter was installed in November <strong>2008</strong> to keep track <strong>of</strong>the traffic <strong>of</strong> the website.
