LAS Conference and other events, to reduce the costs for LAS, and resulting in agood income received for this year, for the second year running. Mike and his teamhad kept the membership numbers high, and we hope to break a new record thisyear.Su Yian and her team had published the Library Journal that was distributed duringthe LAS Conference. They continue to bring current news from libraries to usthrough the Singapore Libraries Bulletin Blog. Last but not least, Kris and Lin Lincontinued to serve Council in their efficient and effective ways, by ensuring thatmembers are alerted via email of all LAS activities and some 40 job openings ingood time, that Council meets regularly and that we keep our accounts accurateand up-to-date.I would also like to thank Kah Ching, LAS Internal Auditor for doing wonderful workin auditing the LAS accounts for the second year. Last but not least, I would like tothank Sylvia for her unstinting support and very helpful guidance throughout theyear.This year will see the first applications for the PDS, the Career Fair at NTU in Feb09 and the LAS Elections at the AGM in Mar 09. We will also be working on thedevelopment of the next set of competencies, this round for Librarians.
