3.5 The localized programme was mainly on developments in the libraries inSingapore. The Keynote Speakers were Mr Choy Fatt Cheong, ChiefLibrarian of NTU on Day 1 and Prof Kishore Mahbubani, Dean of the LeeKuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore onDay 2 of the Conference.3.6 Poster sessions were held on both days of the Conference, showcasinginnovative projects carried out in the various libraries. A total of 11 postersessions participated in these sessions. Vendors also showcased theirinnovative products.3.7 Total expense was $20,452.59. Total income was $88,577. Hence, the profitwas $68,124.41 mainly from sponsorship.3.8 Feedback on the conference, poster sessions were generally positive,especially in terms of the speakers and facilities. Many said that theyenjoyed the local context in which the speeches were based. There werealso calls for LAS to organize an annual or biennial conference as a platformfor professional development and sharing.3.9 An area of improvement would be to have a larger venue space for futureconferences. Due to the unexpected overwhelming response and requestsfrom members to increase the registration number, the OrganisingCommittee had to accommodate more than the seating capacity of thevenue.4.
