3.5 The localized programme was mainly on developments in the libraries in<strong>Singapore</strong>. The Keynote Speakers were Mr Choy Fatt Cheong, ChiefLibrarian <strong>of</strong> NTU on Day 1 and Pr<strong>of</strong> Kishore Mahbubani, Dean <strong>of</strong> the LeeKuan Yew School <strong>of</strong> Public Policy at the National University <strong>of</strong> <strong>Singapore</strong> onDay 2 <strong>of</strong> the Conference.3.6 Poster sessions were held on both days <strong>of</strong> the Conference, showcasinginnovative projects carried out in the various libraries. A total <strong>of</strong> 11 postersessions participated in these sessions. Vendors also showcased theirinnovative products.3.7 Total expense was $20,452.59. Total income was $88,577. Hence, the pr<strong>of</strong>itwas $68,124.41 mainly from sponsorship.3.8 Feedback on the conference, poster sessions were generally positive,especially in terms <strong>of</strong> the speakers and facilities. Many said that theyenjoyed the local context in which the speeches were based. There werealso calls for LAS to organize an annual or biennial conference as a platformfor pr<strong>of</strong>essional development and sharing.3.9 An area <strong>of</strong> improvement would be to have a larger venue space for futureconferences. Due to the unexpected overwhelming response and requestsfrom members to increase the registration number, the OrganisingCommittee had to accommodate more than the seating capacity <strong>of</strong> thevenue.4.
