The present Convention shall enter into <strong>for</strong>ce twelve months after the d<strong>at</strong>e on which <strong>at</strong> least 15 St<strong>at</strong>es, theaggreg<strong>at</strong>e of whose merchant fleets constitutes not less than 65 per cent by number or by tonnage of the world fleet ofvessels of 100 gross tons and over have become Parties to it, whichever is achieved first.(b). Notwithstanding the provisions in subparagraph (a) of this paragraph, the present Convention shall not enter into<strong>for</strong>ce be<strong>for</strong>e 1 January 1976.2.. Entry into <strong>for</strong>ce <strong>for</strong> St<strong>at</strong>es which r<strong>at</strong>ify, accept, approve or accede to this Convention in accordance with article IIafter the conditions prescribed in sub-paragraph 1(a) have been met and be<strong>for</strong>e the Convention enters into <strong>for</strong>ce, shallbe on the d<strong>at</strong>e of entry into <strong>for</strong>ce of the Convention.3.. Entry into <strong>for</strong>ce <strong>for</strong> St<strong>at</strong>es which r<strong>at</strong>ify, accept, approve or accede after the d<strong>at</strong>e on which this Convention enters into<strong>for</strong>ce, shall be on the d<strong>at</strong>e of deposit of an instrument in accordance with article II.4.. After the d<strong>at</strong>e of entry into <strong>for</strong>ce of an amendment to this Convention in accordance with paragraph 4 of article VI,any r<strong>at</strong>ific<strong>at</strong>ion, acceptance, approval or accession shall apply to the Convention as amended.5.. On the d<strong>at</strong>e of entry into <strong>for</strong>ce of this Convention, the <strong>Regul<strong>at</strong>ions</strong> replace and abrog<strong>at</strong>e the <strong>Intern<strong>at</strong>ional</strong><strong>Regul<strong>at</strong>ions</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Preventing</strong> <strong>Collisions</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Sea</strong>, 1960.6..
