When the hunter recognizedthe value of his stone, he cried out: “Woe is me!I have been carelessly shooting gems into the river. Icould have been a millionaire. But thank God I havesaved at least this one.”Every day of our lives is like a precious diamond.We may have wasted countless days already in idle andselfish pursuits, so that they are now lost in the depthsof the past. But let us at least awake now, see the valueof the days that remain and use them to acquire spiritualwealth. If we use them in selfless service to Godand if we use them to warn others who are still frivolouslythrowing away their days in pursuit of fleetingpleasures, then we will gain the boundless treasure ofheavenly bliss.141• seva • service
