HUMAN CONCERNS COMMISSION will witness efforts in the areas of care ministry and social outreach.HOME MATTERS VOLUNTEER PROGRAMformerly known asCOMMUNITY COMPANION VOLUNTEERSHome Matters is a free respite care service co-sponsored by St. Edna and Lutheran Home & Services. Respite care isthe provision of relief to family members caring for frail and/or elderly or dependent people. Care gives family membersthree hours of welcome relief knowing that their loved one is being visited with a reliable person while they go outon their errands.If you are in need of this service, please contact Margaret Moser at 847-398-3362 or Dee Najdowski, Coordinator ofCCV Program at 847-537-7853. Volunteers are needed for CCV. Can you give three hours of your time weekly to sitwith someone while their caregiver gets out of the house to do some chores or have lunch with someone? Moser—Director of Human ConcernsThe different form of intercessory prayer offered here at Saint EdnaPrayer Basket: The Prayer Basket is in front of the altar. Intentions are placed in the basket and they are strictly between the personthat places them in there and the Lord who receives them. Quite often the celebrant of the Mass will remember the prayers in thePrayer Basket during the Prayer of the Faithful at Mass.Announced Prayers at Mass: This is used when people are critically ill.Sick list in Bulletin: This is used for the above and for elective surgery or people with chronic illness.Saint Edna Angels: This is strictly through email to approximately 250 Saint Edna Angels. We use first and last name and briefdescription of what the person is going through. It is used for people in trauma and who need prayer and need it immediately.For all of the above, permission is needed from the family directly involved.SAINT EDNA SUPPORT GROUPSBUTTERFLIES This is a new support group that we are starting for parents who have lost a baby due to being born premature,miscarriage or stillborn. The group will meet on the 4th Tuesday of every month. Our next meeting will be September 25, 2012 at6:00pm in the Hurley Center. Mothers and or Fathers of these little ones are welcome to attend.MOURNING CIRCLE this is an evening support group for those who have been widowed. This group will meet on the fourthThursday of every month. Our next meeting will be September 27, 2012 at 7:30pm in the Hurley Center. Feel free to bring a friend.MOURNING LIGHT this is an afternoon support group for those who have been widowed. This group meets the second Wednesdayof every month. Our next meeting will be September 12, 2012 at 2:00pm in the Hurley Center.PIETA is a support group for mothers who have lost a son or daughter. This group will meet the 3 rd Tuesday of every month. Ournext meeting will be Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 2:00pm in the Hurley Center.PHOENIX GROUP A support group for those struggling with divorce.
