OVERSEASGUMBALL 3000:THE CARSWhat excites in Gumball apart from the glitz and glamour is of course, the cars themselves. We bring you the full coverage of the hottest, rarest cars which made their appearance in London. When it was time for the cars to roll outof Covent Garden to begin their journey, photographers were already camped inthe best spots to take the cars passingby. Although the search was difficult,I managed to plant myself at a crossjunctionwhere the cars definitely hadto turn from to get to the main road. Iwasn’t disappointed as they startedcoming one by one, although theunpredictable weather meant I wasdrenched by the time the last car spedpast me. Still, it’s something worthsitting in the rain for.The crowds cheered on for the drivers toshow what their cars can do, so someplayed along and showed us someburn outs and brief oversteer moments. In general, the drivers were a prettycivilised bunch, not least because ofthe complaints they received in the pastfor being a rowdy bunch. They seem tohave improved much.I’ve highlighted a few cars which Ithought were worthy of mention butyou can see the rest of the cars in theother photos as well. Enjoy!Aston Martin One-77This limited edition AstonMartin doesn’t come any rarerin this bronze-orange hue.Nissan R35 GTRA lone red GTR made an appearance in theotherwise European-dominated convoy;respect must be given for the driver’sbeach aspirations with a surf board carriermounted on its rooftop.Text & Photos James Wong40 AUGUST 2011
