Les Jungermanniales acrogynes (11 familles et 13genres) et les Marchantiales (6 familles et 8 genres) prédominent largement, l'écart numériqueentre les deux ordres n'étant pas considérable (17 taxons soit 47,22 % du total des hépatiquespour le premier, 14soit 38,88 % pour le second). (PROVENCE): BRYOPHYTES 203culièrement riches en espèces (notamment sur silice) dans le nord, le centre et l'ouest du continenteuropéen, ainsi que sur les reliefs d'altitude élevée.Compte tenu du programme des excursions, nos prospections ont surtout été effectuéessur des affleurements calcaires dont le bilan bryofloristique (127 mousses et 22 hépatiques)concorde à peu près avec les résultats de l'ensemble de la session.Ainsi, en ce qui concerne les mousses, une seule famille (FabroniaceaeJ, 5 genres (Dicranum,Dicranoweisia, Fabronia, Habrodon, Pterigynandrum) et 20 taxons, dont beaucoupd'Orthotrichum corticoles, n'ont été rencontrés que sur troncs d'arbres ou souches (corticoles: Dicranoweisia cirrata, Fabronia pusil/a, Habrodon perpusil/us, Orthotrichum acuminatum,O. affine, O. diaphanum, O. Iyel/i;, O. philibertii, O. pumilum, O. stramineum, O. striatum,O. tenel/um, Tortula laevipila var. laevipila, T. papil/osa, T. virescens; autres: Bryumflaccidum, Dicranum tauricum, Hypnum cupressiforme var. filiforme et var .strictifolium, Pterigynandrumfiliforme), alors que 3 familles (Archidiaceae, Hedwigiaceae, Ptychomitriaceee),9 genres (Archidium, Ceratodon, Entosthodon, Epipterygium, Hedwigia, Octodiceras,Philonotis, Ptychomitrium, Weissia)et 26 taxons n'apparaissent que sur les substrats siliceuxou complètement décalcifiés; tel est le cas pour un bon nombre d'acidophiles (ou dumoins se comportant ainsi dans la région étudiée), comme par exemple : Bryum alpinum etsa var. viride, Archidium alternifolium, Entosthodon fascicularis, E. templetonii, Epipterygiumtozeri, Fissidens bryoides, F. ovatifolius, F. taxifolius et sa var. pal/idicaulis, Grimmia laevigata,Hedwigia ciliata, Orthotrichum rupestre et sa var. sturmii, Oxyrrhynchium schleicheri,Philonotis aff. Fontana, Ptychomitrium nigrescens, Tortula canescens, Weissia controversavar. controversa, auxquelles s'ajoutent encore Barbula hornschuchiana, Ceratodon purpureus,Grimmia trichophyl/a subsp. lisae, Octodiceras fontanum, Rhynchostegiel/a pumila,Scorpiurium deflexifolium et Trichostomum brachydontium var. littorale qui semblent moinsexigeantes à l'égard du pH édaphique.A propos des hépatiques, on remarque que seuls une famille (MetzgeTÏBceae), un genre(Metzgeria) et deux espèces de Jungermanniales cortico-saxicoles (Metzgeria furcata et Frullaniadilatata) n'ont été récoltés que sur les écorces d'arbres; par contre, les sols siliceux oudépourvus de calcaire sont plus riches et nous ont livré exclusivement 3 familles (Anthocerotaceae,Codoniaceae, Corsiniaceae), 5 genres (Corsinia, Fossombronia, Mannia, Phaeoceros,Pfagiochasma)et 12 espèces (Corsinia coriandrina, Fossombronia angulosa, F. pusil/a,Mannia androgyna, Phaeoceros laevis, Pfagiochasma rupestre, Riccia bicarinata, R. canescens,R. crozalsii, R. gougetiana, R. michelii et R. nigrel/a).Les herborisations effectuées au cours de cette huitième session extraordinaire de laS.B.C.O. ont montré l'étonnante richesse bryofloristique de certains sites privilégiés, probablementuniques en Provence. Alors que la dévastation de ce pays se poursuit sans relâche etprogresse de façon alarmante, du moins à proximité des côtes et sur le littoral (proliférationdes incendies, des constructions, pollutions multiples liées à l'activité humaine et aux concentrationsexcessives de population), il serait urgent d'assurer la protection rigoureuse de certaineszones.Nous pensons en particulier aux sites abyssaux de la forêt des Morières (aiguilles de Valbelle: Neckera besseri, Distichium capil/aceum, Bryoerythrophyl/um recurvirostre, Pfagioch/7aporeüoides), à la coulée basaltique d'Evenos avec, sur le plateau de Fontagniou, Ptychomitriumnigrescens (deuxième localité d'Europe) et des pelouses temporairement humides trèsvariées (nombreux Riccia dont R. cenescens), et, enfin, au vallon de Saint-Clair du Lavandoudans lequel Fissidens ovatifolius, Octodiceras fontanum, Pfagiochasma rupestre, etc ... sontmenacés par la pollution des eaux du ruisseau.
