I found the course to beenlightening and educational. Theinstructors, Drs. Hlynka and Cap shared adiverse and in-depth account of both events, from both pedagogical and informationalperspectives. Instructors were clear andelaborate, drawing on vast personalexperiences as well as a well-researchedknowledge base. As a teacher in theUkrainian-Bilingual program, I certainlyappreciated the content of the course itself, not to mention the approach as a classroomteacher in attempting to share these andother horrendous events throughout worldhistory. The presenters organized by theinstructors were passionate and articulatein their individual fields, only adding to theInstitute’s appeal. I feel that the strongestaspect of the Institute was the appeal tostudents outside the greater Ukrainiancommunity, be they MEd students, PBDEstudents or PhD scholars. Increasing theawareness and knowledge of the greaterpublic only strengthens the ability of ourcommunity to share our past experiencesand move forward. Thank you so much tothe Shevchenko Foundation for its generoussupport of the Institute, and I hope that inthe future further educational initiativescan be considered as well.Sincerely,Jeff KozakTeacher, Oak Bank Elementary SchoolThank you to the Shevchenko Foundationfor the grant of $2,000 given to the English-Ukrainian Bilingual Program in supportof a new cultural program prepared forchildren by Maryka Chabluk calledWe Have Canadian Pride.
