Padel TournamentOn Sunday the 13 th ofFebruary, a number of IBstudents, as well as a selectfew from the secondary schoolstaff took part in a padeltournament which wasorganised by myself, LucasReek in Y12MGa. Thetournament was played atClub de Tennis PuenteRomano, between 10am and4pm. Although many would call Sunday a “day of rest”, these athletes all managed todrag themselves out of bed and turn up at the correct time. The pairs had been drawn acouple of weeks before, completely randomly by pulling names from a hat and, after afew withdrawals, everybody had a partner. Everyone had three matches to play beforethere could be any hope of making it to the semi-finals. As predicted, the competition wasfierce. However, it is unlikely that any of these players would have played so well, if ithad not been for the tournament sponsor ‘Originals Interiors’, who kindly providedrefreshments. The tournament soon progressed to the semis. Nikita Zverev & I playedMr. Chris French & Marta Perez for a place in the final, while Nicolas Dalli & Carlos Vidalplayed Guillermo Fernandez & Daniel Rayner. Eventually, the two best pairs faced oneanother. Lucas & Nikita would play Guillermo & Daniel for the “Originals PadelTournament” trophy! The battle began! After an intense encounter, Guillermo and Danielwere crowned champions after beating Lucas and Nikita 9-7! It was a well deservedvictory, and the best team won! This triumph marked the end of the tournament andhopefully set the standard for future events. Theywatched a presentation and didsome theory exercises and laterin the year the Town hall willcontact us again to invite themto take part in the practicalassessment.Earthquakes and VolcanoesThis term, Y4 have been learning about Earthquakesand Volcanoes.
