Characteristics
Medium alloy CrMoV based special hot work tool steel with good wearing characteristics at higher
temperatures. Good tempering properties, good high-temperature strength, very good high-temperature
toughness, low hardening temperature.
Applications
Extrusion tools including pipe extruders, especially liners for pressing aluminium alloys, liner holders, and
especially outer mantles for external heating, die holders and die backers.
Delivered condition
Annealed to max. 250 HB
Hardened and tempered to customer specifi cation on request

Heat treatment
Stress relieving Temperature: Approx. 650 °C in the annealed state
Duration: 1 hour per 50 mm wall thickness
Cooling: Furnace
Soft annealing Temperature: 730 °C
Duration: 1 hour per 25 mm wall thickness
Cooling: Furnace
Hardening Temperature: 950 °C
Duration: 1 minute per mm wall thickness
Quenching hardness Max. 57 HRC in oil, hot bath or vacuum
Tempering Temperature: See tempering curve
Duration: 1 hour per 25 mm wall thickness
Cooling: Air
Working hardness 265–355 HB
