Статистички календар Србије 2011.Први датирани ћирилски споменик јеСамуилов натпис из 993. године.Најстарија сачувана српска рукописнакњига писана ћирилицом јестеМирослављево јеванђеље (крај XIIв.), а прва књига штампана наћирилици на Балкану je ОктоихОсмогласник. Штампање ове књигедовршено је 4. јануара 1494. године уштампарији Ђурђа Црнојевића у Ободукрај Цетиња, којом је руководиојеромонах Макарије. Мирослављевојеванђеље је највећи и најзначајнијиспоменик српске писмености из XIIвека. Настао је по наруџбини захумскогкнеза Мирослава, брата рашкогвеликог жупана Стефана Немање,највероватније у Котору, око 1185.године, а за потребе цркве Св. Петра уБијелом Пољу. Највећи деојеванђелистара дело је непознатогпреписивача (у науци названог Варсамелеон),док је дијак Глигорије (Григорије),други писар, написао крај рукописа,неколико кратких записа и украсиотекст орнаментима.Рукопис се до 1896. налазио уХиландару, када је поклоњен краљуАлександру Обреновићу приликомњегове посете Атосу. Данас се чува уНародном музеју у Београду.Старословенска ћирилица замењена јепочетком XVIII века у Русији за времеПетра Великог грађанском ћирилицом.Циљ ове реформе Петра Великог биоје да се стари облици ћирилице саобразесавременим европским облицималатиничног писма. Коначну реформусрпске ћирилице извршио је ВукAs the first dated memorial of Cyrillic writingwe assumed the Samuilo inscriptionfrom 993. The earliest preserved Serbianmanuscript in Cyrillic writing is Miroslavljevojevanđelje (the Gospel of Miroslav)of the late 12 th century, and the firstbook in the Balkans that was printed inCyrillic was Oktoih Osmoglasnik. Theprinting of this book was completed on04.01.1494 in the printing shop of ĐurađCrnojević in Obod near Cetinje, which wasrun by the monk Makarije. The Gospel ofMiroslav is the major and the most prominentmonument of the Serbian literacy ofthe 12 th century. It was worked out about1185, probably in Kotor, on the order ofMiroslav, the knez of Zahumlje, who usedto be a brother of Stefan Nemanja, thegreat count of Raška, and for the use ofthe church St. Peter in Bijelo Polje. Thegreatest part of gospel text is the doing ofunknown copyist (called Varsemeleon forresearch purposes), while dijak Gligorije,another copyist, wrote the final part of themanuscript, several short notes and complitedit with ornaments.Until 1896 the manuscript had beenstored in Hilandar, when it was given as agift to Aleksandar Obrenović on the occasionof his visit to Athos. Today the manuscriptis stored preserved in the NationalMuseum of Belgrade.It was in Russia during the rule of Petarthe Great, in the early 18 th century, thatthe Old Church Slavic Cyrillic writing wasreplaced by so called civil Cyrillic. Thepurpose of the reform initiated by Peterthe Great was that the old Cyrillic formsare harmonized with the modern Europeanforms of Latin writing.
