EA BOARD OF DIRECTORS<br />
mEmBErsHip<br />
The <strong>Edmonton</strong> <strong>Airports</strong> (EA) Board of Directors<br />
comprises 15 members, 13 of whom are appointed<br />
by seven governmental bodies. The Board appoints<br />
two members at-large. Board appointments are as<br />
follows: The City of <strong>Edmonton</strong> (6), Leduc County (1),<br />
The City of Leduc (1), Strathcona County (1), Sturgeon<br />
County (1), Parkland County (1), Government of<br />
Canada (2), Board (2). One at-large Board position<br />
is currently vacant.<br />
The EA Board is made up of some of the region’s<br />
most successful and respected business and community<br />
leaders, with a broad range of expertise. Their collective<br />
experience, insight and guidance are an invaluable<br />
contribution to fulfilling EA’s regional mandate.<br />

The Board is responsible for the stewardship, strategic<br />
direction and supervision of the business and affairs<br />
of EA. Some of the key governance functions of the<br />
Board include adopting and monitoring compliance<br />
with an ethics code, reviewing and approving EA’s<br />
five-year strategic plan and annual business plan,<br />
planning CEO succession, and satisfying itself that<br />
management has identified the principal risks of the<br />
business and implemented appropriate systems to<br />
manage those risks. The Board ensures that EA is<br />
accountable to the public in the region it serves through<br />
appropriate transparency processes, disclosure practices<br />
and effective communications plans and policies.<br />
Over the past few years, the Board has taken steps<br />
to adopt a governance and accountability framework<br />
that has been recommended by the federal government<br />
in draft legislation governing airport authorities.<br />
