Palace<br />

The Residence was designed by<br />

Balthasar Neumann and built from<br />

1720 through 1744. It is considered<br />

one of the most important<br />

palaces in all of Europe. What<br />

makes the Residence so unique<br />

is the combination of architecture<br />

and ingenious interior design. The<br />

frescos above the grand staircase<br />

and in the impressive Imperial<br />

Hall by the Venetian G.B. Tiepolo<br />

are world famous. Don’t forget to<br />

visit the Garden Hall, the White<br />

Hall and the Mirror Cabinet.<br />

From the boat dock Alter Kranen<br />

in Würzburg float downstream,<br />

past vineyards and the monastery<br />

Oberzell, to Veitshöchheim. The<br />

picturesque old town of Veitshöchheim<br />

is the location of the former<br />

summer residence of the Würzburg<br />

prince bishops. Take a leisurely<br />
