The Residence Palace – A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site Balthasar Neumann, Europe’s greatest architect of the Baroque era, built the Residence Palace. This former home of the prince bishops of Würzburg is nicknamed “the castle above all castles”. The grand staircase of the Residence Palace is deemed the most beautiful staircase in the world.
