2012 Jeffrey J. Zogg Build New York Entrants
1) Aurora Contractors – Sysco Long Island
This $61 million Design/Build Project spans nearly 425,000 SF
on 40 acres of property in Central Islip, Long Island. The entire
complex was composed of a 180,000 SF Freezer Warehouse,
150,000 SF Dry Warehouse, 65,000 SF of office space, 12000 SF
Maintenance Building and a Product Test Kitchen.
2) Aurora Contractors – Nassau Community College
Life Sciences Building
This $30 million, three-story, 75,000 SF building houses stateof-the-art
chemistry labs, computer and instructional classrooms
and houses a premier nursing simulation laboratory that mimics
an actual hospital environment. The project incorporates the
latest in green building by collecting rain water through a series
of underground cisterns for landscape irrigation and has applied
for a LEED Gold certification.

3) Barr & Barr, Inc – New York Hospital Queens
This major modernization project included a new five story,
100,000 sf. West Wing Addition and 30,000 sf. of renovations to
adjoining areas of the existing hospital. The scope of the project
also changed last minute to relocate a planned 3 story above
ground parking of the structure and moved it underground.

4) E.W. Howell – Brooklyn Botanic Garden Visitors Center
This 20,000 SF visitor center replaced a modest gate on
Washington Avenue with an enticing entry into the 52-acre
Garden. The center incorporates numerous environmentally
sustainable features-most notably a 10,000 SF living roof and
has applied for LEED Gold Certification.
5) Hueber Breuer – SUNY ESF, Centennial Hall
Named in honor of SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry’s
100 anniversary, it provides the first housing exclusively for ESF
students. Centennial Hall is the largest wood frame modular
structure in Central NY. This 138,000 SF, 454-bed residence hall
gives new meaning to critical path scheduling, as it was built in 14
months.
6) LeChase Construction Services – Golub Corporation
H.Q.
Golub Corporation, the owner of Price Chopper Grocery Stores set
out to build a new headquarters to house all of their administrative
staff. Golub turned to LeChase Construction for a $34 million,
240,000 SF facility that houses test kitchens, cafeteria, auditorium
and state-of-the-art fitness center all in a LEED Gold Certified
Building.
