Honoring Tom Poole

AGC NYS is honored to
announce that Tom
Poole from Sano-
Rubin has been selected to
receive the AGC NYS 2012
Career in Service Award.
Tom has been around for
many years and is going
to be missed as he moves
on to retirement. It is our
pleasure to recognize Tom
for this deserving award,
but at the same time we are
sad to see him go. It is always disappointing to see
the “old timers” move on. The saying still holds
true, “they do not make them like that anymore.”
I have personally
known Tom
since my arrival
at AGC NYS, in
1995. Tom has
been a real asset
to me and the
entire association.
Tom is not only
known for his
key knowledge
regarding safety
issues, but is
also a big hockey
fan that can be seen at most Albany River Rats
home games. Tom has been a real pleasure to
be around and we are sorry to say that another
quality individual will be leaving the industry. We
would just like to say
one thing... Thank
You, Tom!
Hard rolls on
Thursdays. Just
one of Tom Poole’s
many duties he has
been responsible
for over his 41 years
of service at Sano-
Rubin. Tom joined
Sano-Rubin in 1971
as a project engineer
and has performed
numerous and varied tasks
such as layout, quality
control, project manager,
estimator, head chef for
company BBQs, office
equipment repair man,
keeper of the phones,
Super Bowl pool manager
and over the past decade,
our Safety Director. In this
position, Tom has brought
his knowledge of the
field and office operations, corporate philosophy
and meticulous nature which has brought us
numerous safety awards and a great company
ambassador. Tom’s time spent as a catcher is the
perfect metaphor for his role at Sano-Rubin. He
has the perspective of the whole field and is relied
upon by all. He is the anchor of our team, our “go
to” guy and he has been a stabilizing presence for
over 4 decades. His loyalty and dedication to the
Company and the industry are unquestioned and
well deserving of this recognition.
