PRESIDENT’S PERSPECTIVE Helping youth discover a promising future In recent weeks, I had the privilege of joining other staff members and our teachers as we celebrated the achievements of our graduating seniors. I enjoyed listening to our seniors reflect on their time at Methodist Children’s Home as they prepared to move on to new challenges. Without fail, these young men and women expressed their gratitude for the commitment and dedication of staff members who influenced their lives. I am proud to be part of a staff that enables this ministry to offer hope to at-risk children, youth and their families. Each year, many of our graduates admit that they would not have reached this important milestone had they not come to Methodist Children’s Home. Before their placement, they struggled with school failure, broken relationships and a sense of hopelessness. However, through relationships with caring adults who express God’s love through their daily lives, these young people develop their unique gifts and abilities and discover a promising future. As part of our annual report in this issue of Sunshine, we share examples of young people and staff members who exemplify our mission and core values – Christian principles, relationships, responsibility, service, growth and hope. I believe these stories will encourage you as we work together to influence the lives of children across Texas and New Mexico. Bobby Gilliam and Moe Dozier, vice president for residential services, show their support for Heather as she receives her diploma from the University of Texas Charter School — MCH Campus. A financial report and our annual Circle of Friends recognition are also included in this issue. Methodist Children’s Home is blessed by a strong endowment and the generosity of benefactors who support this ministry. I assure you that we will continue to be faithful stewards of our financial resources, and I am confident God will keep His hand on Methodist Children’s Home as we fulfill His calling to reach out to hurting children and families. Thank you for your support of our ministry. We are grateful for your prayers, financial support and referrals that enable us to continue the strong legacy of serving children who desperately need to discover hope in their lives. For His children, Bobby Gilliam Methodist Children’s Home now has a blog! The blog is our virtual “brag book” where we highlight information about this ministry.
