The Berry Center<br />
Loren M. Berry Center for<br />
Economic Education and<br />
Development<br />
During <strong>2001</strong>-02, the Berry Center continued its threepronged<br />
mission <strong>of</strong> economic education, business and<br />
industry training and regional economic development.<br />
▼ 28 teachers and trainers from South Africa were<br />
taught economics during our <strong>Annual</strong> Free<br />
Enterprise Leadership Conference. 122 students<br />
from throughout Ohio also attended the<br />
conference.<br />
▼ Training was provided to 6 area industries<br />
resulting in the retention <strong>of</strong> over 100 jobs.<br />
▼ Berry Center received a Higher Skills<br />
Partnership Grant for a partnership with<br />
Buckeye Hills Career Center to <strong>of</strong>fer a “onestop”<br />
center for business and industry training<br />
to companies throughout southern Ohio.<br />
▼ Students For Free Enterprise (SIFE) successfully<br />
completed 19 projects ranging from teaching job<br />
search skills and responsible use <strong>of</strong> credit to<br />
promoting entrepreneurship and community<br />
service. The SIFE team won the regional<br />
competition and placed highly in the nationals.<br />
▼ Over 4500 students and teachers throughout<br />
southern Ohio were taught the basics <strong>of</strong> economics<br />
and our free enterprise system.<br />
