FIRM DESCRIPTION l A RANGE OF EXPERIENCE, AN UNLIMITED HORIZON The range of our projects is vast, from 10,000-square-foot corporate interiors to 500,000-square-foot academic and athletic buildings to entire new city precincts in places as distant and diverse as coastal California, urban New England, and the technology corridors of northern India. OUR OPEN STUDIOS Our office is located in a 100-year-old renovated mill building along the Charles River in Boston. Its loft design and multiple communal areas are reflective of a firm culture of openness and intellectual investigation. Our award-winning headquarters achieved LEED EB Gold certification. Wheeling Heritage Port l Wheeling, West Virginia CLIENT City of Wheeling/Wheeling National Heritage Area Corporation (WNHAC) SERVICES Planning Urban Design Landscape Architecture Civil Engineering COST $4 million construction cost COMPLETION DATE 2002 AWARDS Boston Society of Landscape Architects, Honor Award for Waterfront Design, 2003 The Waterfront Center, Excellence on the Waterfront Honor Award, 2003 The three acre waterfront park along the Ohio River is part of a program of urban revitalization and community enhancement. The WNHAC planned to create within the Wheeling waterfront area a park and trail system that celebrates and interprets Wheeling’s natural, cultural, and historic legacy, and provides outdoor public space to attract both residents and tourists. The new park also serves commercial and recreational port activity. Funding for construction became available in 1998, under a grant from the National Park Service. The old Wharf Garage in the center of the site was demolished to make way for new park construction, consisting of an amphitheater, an entry plaza, and a river-edge (t-b) Overall view of the park showing the amphitheater and boat mooring facilities; a typical Wednesday evening concert.
