1941 Msgr. James W. Peterson, May 13, 2013, attended Gannon<br />

University, Saint Mary’s Seminary, Catholic University and did<br />

fur<strong>the</strong>r graduate work at Western Reserve University and Notre<br />

Dame. He was ordained in 1947 and was assigned to Blessed<br />

Sacrament Church, <strong>the</strong>n to Gannon University. While at Gannon,<br />

he taught English and was appointed <strong>the</strong> Director of Religious<br />

Activities and Chairman of <strong>the</strong> Theology Dept. He was also resident<br />

chaplain at Gannon’s Wehrle Hall. He served as chaplain at <strong>the</strong><br />

Erie County Prison and Diocesan Vocations Director. In 1975, he<br />

was named pastor of St. Teresa Parish in Union City. He founded<br />

Maria House Project, a nonprofit corporation which provides small<br />

group living for men in need of healing from drug and alcohol<br />

addiction from <strong>the</strong> effects of imprisonment and homelessness.<br />

He helped establish <strong>the</strong> Avila House retreat center in Union City.<br />

In 1985, he resided St. Stephen of Hungary Church. From 1992-<br />

1995 he served as chaplain to <strong>the</strong> Holy Family Monastery.<br />

1946 Gerald P. Bechtold, June 10, 2013, served in <strong>the</strong> U.S. Navy. He<br />

worked at <strong>the</strong> Erie Times-News as a sales manager. He retired in<br />

1998 as <strong>the</strong> president of <strong>the</strong> North Western PA Food Merchants<br />

Association.<br />

1950 Charles J. Burgoyne, May 12, 2013, received a Bachelor of Arts<br />

degree from Gannon University and a master’s degree from<br />

Western Reserve University. He served in <strong>the</strong> U. S. Army from<br />

1954-1956 and participated in <strong>the</strong> atomic bomb tests on <strong>the</strong> Bikini<br />

and Enewetak Islands. He taught English and Humanities for <strong>the</strong><br />

Erie School District and McDowell High School from 1958 until his<br />

retirement in 1993.<br />

1953 Frank J. Abbate, April 23, 2013, served in <strong>the</strong> U.S. Marines during<br />

<strong>the</strong> Korean War. He was a meat cutter at Tops Market. Prior to that,<br />

he ran Frank Abbate’s Custom Cut Meats until its closing in 1979.<br />

1954 Richard J. Hall, April 4, 2013, was <strong>the</strong> founder and owner of Regal<br />

Coffee Service.<br />

1956 Robert S. Corritore Sr., August 22, 2013, served in <strong>the</strong> U.S. Navy<br />

for 10 years. He and his fa<strong>the</strong>r founded Corritore Builders in 1961.<br />

1956 Edward P. Spiegel, January 24, 2013, graduated from <strong>the</strong><br />

University of Pittsburgh Dental School. He practiced dentistry<br />

in Erie for over 40 years.<br />

1957 William F. Knipper, June 26, 2013, was a veteran of <strong>the</strong> U.S. Coast<br />

Guard during <strong>the</strong> Vietnam War. He was employed by True Temper<br />

Corp. in Geneva, OH and Assumption Church and School. He<br />

retired from St. Raphael Catholic Church and School in Raleigh, NC<br />

after 18 years of service.<br />

1957 Harold E. Schneider, July 5, 2013, served in <strong>the</strong> U.S. Marine Corps<br />

and <strong>the</strong> USMC Reserve from 1957 to 1964. He was <strong>the</strong> founder<br />

and owner of All-Wea<strong>the</strong>r Roofing Co. for 36 years prior to his<br />

retirement.<br />

1959 James J. Daniszewski, July 13, 2013, served in <strong>the</strong> U.S. Marine<br />

Corps. He worked at <strong>the</strong> family business, T-Ray’s Tavern, until it was<br />

sold. He established Hilltop Guns in Cambridge Springs, PA.<br />

1959 Herbert W. Foster Jr., April 11, 2013, attended Syracuse University<br />

and received a degree in accounting. He worked at Price<br />

Waterhouse Coopers in New York City and San Francisco and<br />

eventually as a CFO for several private and public companies. He<br />

was a partner at The Brenner Group, a financial consulting firm in<br />

Cupertino, CA, for twelve years before his retirement.<br />

1959 Joseph J. Konieczny, July 14, 2013, received an engineering<br />

degree from Penn State Erie-The Behrend College. He was a<br />

veteran of <strong>the</strong> U.S. Army. He was employed at Erie Resistor,<br />

Autoclave Engineers, and was a real estate agent with Spiegel<br />

Realtors.<br />

1961 Robert A. Walker Sr., August 28, 2013, attended Edinboro<br />

University and was in <strong>the</strong> U.S. Army Reserves. He was employed at<br />

General Electric from 1964 until his retirement.<br />

1962 James J. Sitter, July 27, 2013, was a graduate of Washington and<br />

Jefferson College. He began his career as a CPA at Root, Spitznas<br />

and Smiley, continued as CFO of Plastek Industries and was a<br />

partner in Mafix, Inc.<br />

1964 Mat<strong>the</strong>w D. Belovarac, May 24, 2013, served in <strong>the</strong> U.S. Navy.<br />

He graduated from Nor<strong>the</strong>rn Virginia Community College<br />

with an associate’s degree. He was a computer systems<br />

analyst for Verizon.<br />

1964 Robert V. Kiel, August 20, 2013, attended Gannon University<br />

and <strong>the</strong> University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. Upon<br />

graduation, he worked as a pharmacist for two years. He<br />

returned to school at <strong>the</strong> Philadelphia College of Osteopathic<br />

Medicine. He continued his studies through a fellowship to<br />

specialize in gastroenterology. He established his medical<br />

practice in Erie from 1979 until his retirement in 2011. He<br />

semi-retired from UPMC Erie Physicians Network where he<br />

served <strong>the</strong> community in Kane, PA.<br />

1965 Ronald D. Sundy, May 7, 2013, was a veteran of <strong>the</strong> U.S. Army<br />

Reserve. He graduated from <strong>the</strong> General Electric apprentice<br />

program and retired in 2002 as a manager.<br />

1966 James E. Donohue, July 7, 2013, served in <strong>the</strong> U.S. Air Force.<br />

He worked at Hammermill Paper Company for over 30 years<br />

and went on to work at Forestview as a certified nursing<br />

assistant.<br />

1967 Mark A. Sandusky, August 5, 2013, attended Penn State<br />

University. He worked with Koehler Brewery for 10 years and<br />

with Independent Muffler and Brake for over 25 years. Most<br />

recently, he was contracted through UPS washing delivery<br />

trucks.<br />

1969 David R. Gorndt, July 22, 2013, worked as a manager at<br />

Peachtree Center in Atlanta, GA, ABC Entertainment Center in<br />

Century City, CA, Centre Square in Philadelphia, PA and <strong>the</strong><br />

MetLife Building in New York, NY. He retired as <strong>the</strong> Global<br />

Manager of Real Estate at ConvaTec.<br />

1969 Carl G. Longnecker, April 20, 2013, He worked as a parts<br />

and service operator at Longnecker Motor Sales, and <strong>the</strong>n<br />

as an insurance adjuster at Allstate Insurance Agency before<br />

retiring.<br />

1969 Patrick J. Puckly Sr., June 2, 2013, graduated from Widener<br />

University.<br />

1974 Mark D. Webb, July 8, 2013, was a graduate of Edinboro<br />

University. He was a teacher of ma<strong>the</strong>matics for school<br />

districts in Erie, PA, Cleveland, OH, Los Angeles, CA, and<br />

Cincinnati, OH.<br />

1976 Brian Glowacki, July 23, 2013, graduated from Gannon<br />

University with a degree in political science. He attended <strong>the</strong><br />

University of Pittsburgh Law School and graduated with a<br />

Juris Doctor degree. He worked for Deloitte Haskins and Sells,<br />

Berkman Ruslander Pohl Lieber and Engle. Upon his return to<br />

Erie, he worked at <strong>the</strong> Knox Law Firm where he was a senior<br />

partner and shareholder specializing in business law, estate<br />

planning, commercial real estate and tax law.<br />

1987 Patrick J. DiPaolo, August 22, 2013, attended Thiel College<br />

on an athletic scholarship. He received a master’s degree in<br />

elementary and secondary education at Edinboro University.<br />

He was <strong>the</strong> first principal of <strong>the</strong> Flagship Transitional School<br />

and was later appointed principal of East High School. He was<br />

<strong>the</strong> Junior Varsity football coach at Prep under Mina George<br />

and later became <strong>the</strong> head coach of <strong>the</strong> Central High School<br />

football program.<br />

1989 J. Douglas Doleski, June 5, 2013, attended <strong>the</strong> University of<br />

Pittsburgh and graduated from Mercyhurst University with a<br />

degree in business. He owned Leo’s Car Wash, Express Care<br />

Valvoline, and <strong>the</strong> UPS Store in <strong>the</strong> Yorktown Plaza.<br />

1994 Brian J. Weidow, July 17, 2013, graduated from Penn State<br />

Behrend where he earned a bachelor’s degree in both<br />

marketing and finance. He worked for PNC Bank and <strong>the</strong> New<br />

York-Mellon in Pittsburgh.<br />
