Recreation of a Masterpiece<br />
Graham will be talking about his new<br />
book to tie in with the unveiling of the<br />
Stourbridge Portland Vase. He will also<br />
be showing excerpts from “The Crystal<br />
Mile” DVD accompanying his book of<br />
the same name.<br />

Shelley Doolan - The use of<br />
CAD/CAM in a <strong>Glass</strong> Practice<br />
Shelley will discuss the use of CAD/<br />
CAM in her own work and illustrate<br />
with examples of others who work in<br />
this area. Her talk will be followed by<br />
a question and answer session.<br />
Aonghus Gordon - Reimagining<br />
<strong>Glass</strong> from the Inside Out<br />
The Transformation of one of<br />
Stourbridge’s oldest glassmaking<br />
sites as a result of Aonghus’s initial<br />
vision and the subsequent work of<br />
the Ruskin Mill Trust.<br />

David Whitehouse – Stourbridge<br />
<strong>Glass</strong> at the Corning Museum<br />
David Whitehouse, originally from<br />
Worcestershire, now Senior Scholar<br />
at the Corning Museum of <strong>Glass</strong>,<br />
will deliver a fascinating insight<br />
into the influence of Stourbridge<br />
<strong>Glass</strong>makers on the American<br />
glass scene.<br />

Alison Kinnaird -<br />
The Appreciation Window<br />
Alison Kinnaird MBE will talk about her<br />
recently completed commission for<br />
the Scottish National Portrait Gallery -<br />
the Appreciation Window. The window,<br />
which took more than 2 years to<br />
complete, involved the engraving<br />
of up to 25 portraits, including that<br />
of HM the Queen.<br />

Ian Hankey - Looking to the Past<br />
for a Sustainable Future<br />
Ian will look at the way glassmakers<br />
used reflective rationality before the<br />
industrial revolution and how the<br />
introduction of modern technical<br />
rationality has eroded the credibility of<br />
the craftsman in modern society.<br />

Andrew Brewerton - <strong>Glass</strong> Tantra:<br />
the Art of Yang Hui-shan<br />
Focusing on the work of the Chinese<br />
artist Loretta H.S. Yang, this lecture will<br />
explore and illustrate the complex<br />
relationship between Buddhism,<br />
glass and art making. Presenting for<br />
the first time to a Western<br />
audience, wide-ranging critical<br />
reflections, insight and understanding<br />
of the unique achievement of<br />
a major international figure in<br />
contemporary glass.<br />

Five decades of Dick’s odd work.<br />

Vanessa Cutler -<br />
New Technologies in <strong>Glass</strong><br />
Vanessa will discuss her recently<br />
published book (of the same name)<br />
and will share the work of artists who<br />
produce work utilising waterjet, surface<br />
and sub surface laser engraving, rapid<br />
prototyping, machining and vinyl.<br />
