Confident Collecting
The ever-popular and free Confident
Collecting tours are back with the
Biennale Exhibition Organiser and
Curator, Michelle Keeling. A chance
to tour the Biennale exhibition after
it has closed for the day with tips on
collecting and insights on the artists to
watch. Book your place at the Festival
Office during the Festival.

Beginners Fused Glass Workshop
During this workshop with glass artist
and designer Paul Floyd, you will learn
the basics of fusing, cutting glass to
a pattern and working with coloured
sheet glass, frits and powders. You will
create an original piece of glasswork
and make your own fused glass
light-catcher.

Have a go at Beadmaking
Beadmaking is a fascinating activity,
learning to heat a rod of glass on the
torch, wrap it around a mandrel and
decorate it with dots and squiggles....
a chance to try this in a small class, but
be careful you could get hooked!

Have a go at Glassblowing
If you have ever wondered whether
glassblowing was for you, this is your
chance to test it out. This 2 hour
session will teach you the basics of
glassblowing in a small group. Your
blown glass will be available to
collect the following day from
Ruskin Glass Centre.

Extreme Fusing Taster with Tanya Veit
(in association with Warm Glass UK)
In these 2 hour taster sessions
with Tanya Veit, you will learn the
fascinating secrets of Tanya’s method,
called the “Picasso” technique, in
dichroic glass jewellery. Discover how
she creates her intricate collage
designs by building your own Picasso
pendant. You will also create a 3-4
layer chemical etched scenic piece,
using foreground and background.
Finished work will need to be collected
from the Ruskin Glass Centre after firing.

Introduction to Glassblowing
A wonderful introduction to the art
of glassblowing with Martin Andrews.
You will cover the basics including
gathering, shaping and forming;
learning to develop hand eye
co-ordination and rhythm to turn,
stretch and control the molten glass.
You will start by making solid forms,
before progressing to blowing the
glass to create clear & coloured bowls,
vases and your own masterpieces!
Naturally you get to keep your piece,
which you collect the next day.
