The Dominica Freedom Party will build an international airport once the
economics justify its construction, and this includes the assurance of
sufficient and reliable airlift capacity to Dominica. In this regard, publicprivate
sector partnerships will be aggressively pursued.
CULTURAL INDUSTRIES
Vision: full expression, development and preservation of our cultural art
forms
Objective: (i) To harness the economic potential of the creative arts
(ii) To preserve our cultural heritage
Key Policy Actions
Establish a National Performing Arts Centre;
Establish a National Endowment Fund for the development and
strengthening of institutions and training;
Review and strengthen the National Cultural Council and the
Division of Culture for the promotion of local cultural activities;
Refurbish the Arawak House of Culture;
Provide concessions on raw materials imports for costume making
for our National Carnival and other festive occasions;
Provide concessions for the entertainment industry;
Offer scholarships for cultural administration and management,
sound engineering, lighting, film production, writing for film and
television, choreography and theatre in education, and
management;
Review the organization of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF)
with a view to optimizing its contribution to the economy and the
development of the Arts
ENERGY
The energy sector must become one of the main engines of growth. The Energy
Policy of the DFP Government will therefore focus on the management,
exploration and exploitation of our renewable sources of energy as a primary
