Partner with private sector employers to institute arrangements that
would facilitate the participation of persons selected to represent
Dominica in sport events
Work closely with Sport Associations and Clubs to develop
programmes that aim at building excellence in Sport;
Assign personnel trained in Sport Management to work with Clubs to
strengthen their structures;
Build a national gymnasium for swimming, gymnastics, martial arts,
weightlifting and boxing;
Develop Sport Tourism/Green Games – golf , lawn tennis, mountain
biking, hiking mountain scaling, marathons (all linked to De-Eco
Challenge)
Resuscitate the National Sport Council.
HEALTH
Vision: a public health care system that garners the highest possible level
of public satisfaction for the entire population
Objective: to achieve an optimal level of health status distributed
equitably and in adequate degree of risk protection for all
Key Policy Actions
Establish a National Health Insurance Mechanism;
Establish a separate Health Center for physically and developmentally
challenged persons;
Improve nursing care by enhancing the standards of training;
Equip Health Centers with improved medical technologies;
Improve and expand our Ambulance Services by equipping them with the
human and material resources to provide more effective emergency
treatment to patients;
Set up standards for service delivery at hospitals;
Collaborate with schools, civic, regional and international organizations
to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS, drug use, and non-communicable
diseases, among others;
Expand the range of services offered at the Princess Margaret Hospital
including
professional specialist services; and
Institute a more comprehensive management structure for the Intensive
Care Unit.
