F2C-2 Fluorescent magnetic nanoparticles<br />
for visualizing Bonghan duct<br />

Nanoparticles were injected into a Bonghan<br />
corpuscle and we observed them to flow<br />
along the Bonghan duct on the surface of<br />
mammalian internal organs. Another application<br />
was injecting them into lymph nodes<br />
so that Bonghan ducts inside lymphatic<br />
vessels were detected and visualized by the<br />
fluorescence of nanoparticles. Light microscope<br />
and electron microscope images revealed<br />
the nanoparticles captured in the extra<br />
cellular matrix of Bonghan ducts.<br />

Single-molecule spectroscopy is a powerful<br />
tool for studying dynamics of biomolecules.<br />
Using its superior spatial and temporal<br />
resolution under biologically relevant conditions,<br />
scientists have determined the detailed<br />
kinetics and mechanisms of a variety of<br />
biological processes. I will review the recent<br />
progress of single-molecule techniques,<br />
including single-molecule FRET, optical<br />
tweezers and magnetic tweezers.<br />

a main factor limiting performance of optical<br />
transmission system. PMD characteristics<br />
and its influence on performance of optical<br />
signal-to-noise ratio monitoring in WDM<br />
optical network and method to reduce the<br />
PMD effect were theoretically and experimentally<br />
investigated.<br />

We present the fabrication of a single and<br />
double core holey fiber optical cord with<br />
bending insensitive holey fibers. The attenuation<br />
losses at 1,383nm and 1,550nm<br />
were measured to be 0.365dB/km and 0.258<br />
dB/km respectively. The insertion loss with<br />
a connector was as low as 0.1 dB. The<br />
proposed cords show excellent properties<br />
in terms of bending loss, compared with<br />
conventional bending resistant SMFs at the<br />
bending diameters of Ø5.5mm and Ø15mm.<br />

We report the fabrication of a tunable<br />
erbium-doped fiber ring laser with a widely<br />
tunable ranges and excellent stability in the<br />
C- &L-band regions. In addition, we performed<br />
two experiments for application of<br />
tunable fiber ring laser. The applications are<br />
measuring system for coefficient of linear<br />
thermal expansion (CTE) of ULE and spectroscopy<br />
of acetylene (13C2H2) and hydrogen<br />
cyanide (H13C14N).<br />

We developed an analog optical systemon-package<br />
(SoP) transmitter for 60 GHz<br />
band radio-over-fiber (RoF) link. The SoP<br />
transmitter consisted of an electroabsorption<br />
modulator, RF amplifiers, and a band<br />
pass filter. 60 GHz RoF wireless link was<br />
prepared to measure the performance of the<br />
SoP transmitter. The transmission characteristics<br />
of 64 quadrature amplitude modulation<br />
(QAM) data of 60 GHz RoF wireless<br />
link including SoP transmitter were investigated<br />
by measuring the error vector<br />
magnitude (EVM) and signal-to-noise ratio<br />
(SNR) with a base band frequency.<br />

We characterized the enhancement efficiency<br />
of spontaneous emission rates in a surfaceplasmon<br />
enhanced light-emitting diode with<br />
a plasmonic (or metallic) grating. We numerically<br />
evaluated the Purcell enhancement<br />
factor of surface-plasmon enhanced LEDs<br />
by the finite different time domain method<br />
including Green’s function calculation. We<br />
found that a reflection-type of the surfaceplasmon<br />
resonant gratings could enhance<br />
the internal quantum efficiency of a conventional<br />
GaN LED dramatically.<br />

The effect of fiber dispersion on signal<br />
distribution according to a modulation schemes<br />
investigated by using a novel heterodyne<br />
electro-optic modulator which enabled both<br />
double sideband(DSB) and single sideband<br />
(SSB) modulation. It was confirmed that<br />
transmission characteristics of SSB modulation<br />
were superior to DSB's. The experiment<br />
results showed that Signal-to-Noise Ratio<br />
(SNR) was better than 20dB at 10km<br />
long<br />
fiber-optic transmission.<br />

beams in a resonant ring cavity.<br />
The Bragg diffracted beam is measured to<br />
show that the recorded hologram has<br />
nonvolatile property. The lateral profile of<br />
the recorded hologram is shown to depend<br />
on the relative position of the crystal to the<br />
beam spot.<br />

Three-Band White LED<br />

Wide Color Gamut Backlight system was<br />
studied using three-band white LED. Using<br />
for this BLU, Color filter matching simulation<br />
was accomplished. The results show that<br />
the three-band white LED backlight can be<br />
enhanced by up to 16% over conventional<br />
white LED backlight color gamut.<br />
